Almost Done!

I went to the shop at night and got some great shots of the storefront. The neon lights really add character to the photographs. This was originally for the contact page but because Chris figured out how to embed a google map, we can stick this photo in the about gallery.

We went to the shop last Tuesday and Evil Don really liked our progress. We were able to get our 404 page photos taken.

One more week: here we go!

Photos!

We have been putting the final touches on our photographs and formatting them the same way. We have three pages with many photographs, so they are definitely an important element to our site.

This week, I am going to try to take a photograph of the tattoo shop from outside at night and continue to help prepare the photographs for the site. I need to create thumbnails for the skin gallery.

So, Jenessa and Chris were able to go to Evil Don's shop last week and take a ton of cool photographs for the shop gallery and the fine art gallery. The tattoo gallery will be scanned from Evil Don's portfolio. I've spent the last week touching up the photographs and getting them ready for web. Above you can see a photograph of a sign Evil Don had made to match his logo. Pretty cool!

Ready for the proposal

This weekend my group and I got together and worked on our proposal. I think we have a very thorough creative brief, so that helped with the presentation! This week we are meeting with Evil Don on Tuesday to take photographs of him and his shop. It's nice that he has been so available to us for meetings.

My current task is creating a good "mask" for some of the photographs to give them a vintage-y feel.

Progress!

So, we met with Evil Don today to show him some different ideas and I'd say it went really well! He responded positively to our ideas and our comps of the homepage. We showed him a few different type treatment options and narrowed it down to the lit neon-sign look.

We set a meeting with him for this Tuesday to come take some photographs of the exterior and interior of the shop. These photographs will be used as content for the website.

This weekend Chris, Jennessa, and I are meeting to finalize everything for our proposal on Tuesday.

All in all, still stoked about the website!

Update: Evil Don Tattoos

So, we have switched jobs around. Chris is now the Information Architect.

Last time we met with Don, he seemed really excited at the idea of having a website to showcase his work. He is the only artist at the his shop, so by default, the site will be all about him and his work.

He gave us a card with tons of photos of his tattoo work that we plan to use as content for the website. Some of the photos will be perfect for the portfolio portion of his site.

We will be meeting with him again soon to show him some ideas.

Week II

So, we have a new client! Evil Don at Evil Don Tattoos on Central Avenue is our new client. We have met with him twice to discuss the project and he seems to be just as excited as us. His tattoo style is very traditional and he has been tattooing for 20 years. He currently doesn't have a website at all and when we mentioned the idea of a website to him he made a comment that a lot of his friends and peers have told him to "get with the times and get a website"!

My assignment this week is to complete the site diagram for our new site. I will post the site diagram on my blog when it is completed.

Web Design Final!

For the final web design project I am working with Jenessa and Chris. Each of us will play a critical role in the design process. Jenessa is the Project Manager. Chris is the Assets Manager. My role is the information architect. We decided to re-do Lou's Tattoo's website.

The current website:

http://www.loustattoos.com/

We plan to focus on brand identity and assigning Lou's Tattoos a tighter, more cohesive look. We have a meeting scheduled this evening with Lou, the owner of the shop, to discuss the website.

This week we will complete a site diagram and creative brief.

Phong's Website Inspiration

http://www.mitracreative.com/

So here is a website that Phong and I have decided is a good source of inspiration for his layout. The homepage will show a banner at the top with his logo and link to Home, Portfolio (which will have images of design, photography, and fine art), About Me, Contact, and his blog.

Web Design! - Help me convince Phong to use his face logo! :)

I haven't touched this blog in months so in an attempt to get some use out of it, I am going to use it as my blog for my Design for the Internet class.

Our mid-term project is to build a portfolio website for a friend of ours in class. My client is Phong. Since most of Phong's work is very clean and simple, he decided he wanted a similar style for his website. We are working on choosing a color pallet and plan to pull colors from his artwork. The website will have Phong's logo at the top with a vertical menu where the user can navigate to a contact page, an about me page, and multiple portfolio display pages. Phong has a lot of different mediums of work including photography, design, illustrations, and more, so the user will be able to choose a category to view a body of work.

Overall, I'm really excited to continue working on this project. Although my html knowledge before the class consisted of very little, I think this project will be a great way to learn more.

Kara's Gift

So I have still been sick which explains the lack of posting. My best friend, Kara, came over the other night and I gave her Christmas gift. I got her some jewelery and perfume from Paris and made her a set of mirrors for her room. I quickly took some pictures of the present before she got to my house. The mirrors need to be cleaned but I was running short on time!

I also made her a BFF mixed cd.

The mirror's quote is by Coco Chanel: "A girl should be two things: classy and fabulous."

Home. I'm coming home. Home is wherever I'm with you.

I am home in my own comfy bed. Now what the hell, Florida! Warm up! I'm still sick but hopefully tomorrow I will feel up to making a post of all my goodies from Paris shopping.

Au Revoir, Paris

Yes, I'm sad I'm leaving. My last day in Paris was very uneventful. I woke up with a sore throat and a stuffy nose. I thought it would be best to get some soup and stay indoors so I didn't chance the cemetery. I'm not looking forward to my day of travel with this cold. Luckily, Bouba is wonderful and brought me medicine. Hopefully I feel better tomorrow. :(

Just another day in Paris

Today I majorly slept in. I think I'm still jet-lagged. Tomorrow is my last day in the city and Wednesday is a day of travel. I hate flying and somehow got stuck with an aisle seat again on the flight from Paris to Washington D.C. UGH. The only good thing about the aisle seat is you don't have to awkwardly wake someone up to use the restroom. Oh well, I'll be home soon enough and will have a few days to recoup before another semester of Graphic Design. Woohoo!

Pompidou

So today I visited the Pompidou, my favorite modern art museum here in Paris. It was lovely and free (first Sunday of every month!). The building itself is a work of art. It has multiple escalators you ride up while getting a great view of Paris near the top! I saw the permanent collection which is still elles@pompidou, a collection of work all done by women. I bought the catalog when I was here in June but it was great to see everything in person again. It's so inspiring. This time I remembered to bring my camera, duh! Here is a picture of the building itself.

Only two full days left in Paris. I still have to go to the cemetery and I want to see the new Coco Chanel & Igor Stravinsky movie. I'm kind of excited to get home and sleep in my own bed with Miss Lucy again. I miss my kitty! Also, definitely want to catch up with Jeremy and see how New York was. I haven't talked to him since before I left for Paris. Weird!

The cemetery was closed

So, instead I created a polyvore of things I've been COVETING for so long now. I have expensive taste unfortunately.

Père-Lachaise

I'm off to visit my boys Jim Morrison and Mr. Oscar Wilde at Le Cimetière du Père-Lachaise. I couldn't sleep well last night and forgot to set my alarm. I ended up waking up at 2pm. WTF. I'm setting my alarm NOW for tomorrow.

Now to navigate the Metro in Paris. It's easy!

A New Year

Bonjour! I'm in Paris again, this wonderful city. It's strange traveling alone, but what a great experience! For New Year's Eve I met up with some of my Parisian friends and we ran all around trying to find somewhere to dance. Paris is so crowded this time of year and here I thought the weather would scare the tourists off. I was wrong!

So a new year is upon us and I of course have some resolutions for myself.

  • Manage money better
  • Keep an updated planner
  • Join a gym and use it
  • Dress fabulously every day
  • Accessorize more
  • Make more meals at home
  • Start and keep up with an online blog
It's easy to say these things now of course, though I am starting a blog aren't I? Happy New Year's!
